A young 30-year-old Winter receives three short letters, one from William Smalley and two from Eugene Nida, complimenting him on an Ethics paper he wrote for a class at Princeton Seminary in New Jersey, of which they have copies. They are with the American Bible Society. Smalley suggests that Winter turn it into an article for submission to the journal “Practical Anthropology.” Nida asks Winter for a diagram in the paper about language and the cultural pattern of which it is a part to share with his Bible Society colleagues overseas. Included in this post is the title page and Table of Contents of Winter’s paper.
