She mentions about Ralph’s father having had a birthday the day before, which the family celebrated at Ida’s home with Ralph’s mother providing most of the meal. His father liked Ralph’s package. Ida says that Ralph’s brother Paul, who is serving his country near the Philippines, has not been able to write lately. She hopes Ralph will be able to visit the family soon.
