This became the first major book (over 600 pages) published by the then new company: William Carey Library (now William Carey Publishing). Winter convinced a number of respected figures in Christian circles to contribute, including McGavran, James Hopewell (a key person in Presbyterian seminary circles), C. Peter Wagner (a missionary and church growth expert who had served in Latin America), J. Herbert Kane (a respected evangelical missionary and theologian), and Ted Ward (respected Christian Education expert, from Trinity Theological Seminary) – not to mention co-workers Emery and Ross Kinsler (who took over from Winter in Guatemala and continued to advance TEE through his life).
